Ashley Elizabeth White is a visionary director, producer,

arts leader, and educator who thrives in collaborative environments. Through the power of storytelling, Ashley seeks to further the understanding of ourselves in today’s complicated society by forging a more compassionate world.

Ashley is a dedicated director, educator, and arts leader who champions an ensemble-focused, consent-forward room who seeks to bring thought-provoking and immersive experiences to audiences. She currently is the Visiting Assistant Professor of Directing at University of North Carolina-Greensboro, where she teaches directing and new play development and directs productions. Previously, she was the Associate Artistic Director of American Stage Theatre Company, a professional, regional theatre in St. Petersburg, Florida. She is an associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers. 

 

Ashley is currently a National Michael Chekhov Association Teaching Certification Candidate. She is a certified Consent-Forward Artist through IDC. She holds certifications in Mental Health First Aid, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace. She has over 182 hours in ID training. Additionally, Ashley holds over 123 hours in Anti-Racism/DEI, Gender Identity, Bystander Intervention, Mental Health, and Trauma Stewardship. 

 

Some of Ashley’s previous roles include: teaching undergraduate theatre courses at The University of Alabama; Artistic Director of an award-winning high school theatre program in the Greater Sacramento area; and Company Manager of the Training Program with New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theatre. Selected directing credits include: Everybody by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins (UNCG), Murder Ballad by Julia Nash/Julia Jordan (UATD), Small Mouth Sounds by Bess Wohl (UATD), Pipeline by Dominique Morisseau (UATD). Ashley holds an MFA, Directing (The University of Alabama); MA, Education (University of California, Davis); BA, Theatre with specializations in Theatre Management and Design & Technology (Jessup University); BA, English (California State University, Sacramento).
